Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan's Purse) is a non-profit Christian relief and evangelism organization that has touched hundreds of thousands of children's lives.
With this project, you and your family, church, school or organization can reach out to needy children around the world in Christ's name.
All you have to do is find an empty shoe box (wrap it - lid separately - wrapping is not required.) Fill the box with a variety of gifts.
My Experience - Christmas 1997-2009
I became involved with Operation Christmas Child in 1997 through my mom who is a member of AARP. Each year we both take two shoe boxes each (1 for a girl and 1 for a boy) and wrap both of them with Christmas paper and then head out to the mall to buy a variety of items. We purchase school supplies, toys, writing paper and a variety of other items.
We have so much fun doing this project knowing that these packed full shoe boxes will bring joy to a child and will touch a child's heart at Christmas time. It is a great feeling to know that you will bring a smile to a child during the Christmas Season. Please consider participating in this project. I promise, you will be very glad you did. Believe me, you will feel great about yourself.

NEW - Now you can track your box and know where the child you packed a box for lives. How neat is that. This is new as of 2009. I look forward to finding out where the child lives who receives our boxes. :-)
